    New Blackberry 7100 series OS 4.0 software..(4.0.0.274)

Just downloaded it and installed it on the 7100g without a hitch. So far so good...no huge differences as expected...

It may fix issues people have been complaining about around Bluetooth, call waiting and potentially others...

    Download it here: https://www.blackberry.com/SoftwareD...ient=Rc4cZBaBN

    Click down to 7100g

WOOT! After installing this new software, I can use my 7100g as a GPRS modem!!

IN FACT...I'm posting this right now using the BB as the modem! VERY NICE....

Low latency and decent speed...if only it was EDGE!

I'm the happiest BB user ever now!!

After the upgrade I was able to use my 7100g as a GPRS modem with the simplest of ease.

    Try it!

Anyone load it onto a 7100T yet??

Assuming it won't botch things up, especially if there were no probs on the 7100R.

Are there any modifications I should make to this document, based on the new 7100g operating system:
    HOWTO: BlackBerry-As-Modem For Laptop

Any steps that needs to be added or removed?

No I got it to work by following the guide step-by-step.

    No changes needed.

    Bluetooth volume improved?

Can anyone confirm that this update increased the volume on the bluetooth headset that was lost with the 4.0.0.198 software release? Thanks.

I would like to know this also. That is the only thing keeping me from reinstalling 4.0 on my 7100t.

    Thanks,

    7100t

I just upgraded the software on my 7100t and the interface now looks like the 7100g. I tried the bluetooth in my car (2004 BMW 5 Series) and while the address book did not transfer over, the connectivity appears better and no dropped calls. I wonder when this version is launched for T-Mobile if it will have the old interface or the 7100g interface. Bottom line so far no problems .

I checked this link and couldn't find out how to get to it from the main page. Is there a link for other providers than Cingular?

    THanks!

I just downloaded the software from the Cingular site and it worked. Once downloaded, you need to go into the file and delete the vendor.xml file to be able to install the software. There is an instruction on how to do this on another thread. In addition, if you are using a Blackberry server to receive your e-mails, you will need to manually generate a new encryption key to get the e-mail to work--Just go into the redirecter and create one.

Has anyone doanloaded the T-mobile version? I tried yesterday and again today and I am prompted ofr a user name and password. The user name and password I use for the T-mobile site doesn't work...

    Any thoughts?
