Looking for a Psion PIM application comparable to Newton's MoreInfo

    Hi all

I am looking for an application on the Psion side that is comparable to the excellent Newton OS MoreInfo PIM application (http://www.silverwaresoftware.com/MoreInfo.shtml).
Whilst I am a fan of both platforms, I really like the ability of MoreInfo to link everything on the Newton together - meetings, notes, word processing docs, to dos, names, call etc... MoreInfo enables you to see every interaction you've had with a person whether that's a meeting (and the prep notes associated with that), todos that relate them or word processing or spreadsheets docs. That way you can track not only a meeting with but also the agenda for that meeting, the actions to be done as a result of the meeting, the report that you're jointly preparing, the financial forecasts that are being worked on to go into the report and the other contacts that are part of the ad hoc working group. Its an extremely powerful application and one that I have not found a direct analogue for on the Psion.

Any advice regarding something similar would be of great interest.

For an excellent summary of MoreInfo (and an excellent Newton resource) check out this blog

This kind of linking is another heir apparent to the old Sharp Zaurus Classic (Synergy OS). Sharp had developed this PIM approach in the late 90s, and grew a base of devotees who never transitioned to Sharp's Linux switch, a reason why Sharp is no longer a big player in the PDA business.

As for this kind of linking in Psion, I've never heard nor seen of it. If the app is going to be anywhere, it's going to be here: http://www.pscience5.net/

I don't know of any third-party app that does this. I've managed to associate meeting agendas, but to do this I simply add a Word document to a meeting entry in the Agenda/Calendar app. It's far from automatic.

Have a look at Corisoft for Psion : DCP, Xproject, Business Warrior and X-Link. They should meet partially your needs.
I cannot imagine how software conceptors can still stick to the old categories : schedules, to-does, email and so on ! Psion Agenda was in itself somewhat ahead of many other actual software.
I try also to do some linking with macros.

Many thanks for the information. They look like potentially very useful applications.

    Nobody does it better

    Hi Pharos

I was looking for something to match those talents of MoreInfo too. I could not find anything on the Psion, or even on iPhone/iPad. I wrote to the author of MoreInfo and asked if he'd considered an iOS version (he has some iPhone apps on his site) but he replied that the restrictions/ sandboxing approach used in iOS prevent the linking between different bits of info that you mentioned.

So, keep in green and stick with your Newt!
